Remains of Creature May be Buried at Chicken Farm
THE remains of a panther could be buried inside the Inghams Enterprises chicken farm in Appin, a former employee said.
Campbelltown's Leslie Buxton, who worked on the farm 27 years ago, said a panther-like creature regularly entered the sheds with its offspring and slaughtered chickens.
"It was so wild that people were scared to catch it until two blokes, Mario and Paul, managed to set a trap," she said.
"Whatever it was, it was ferocious. It hissed and growled at us until the boys (caught it and) drowned it in a 44 gallon drum of water."
Mrs Buxton said when the furore was over, Mario buried the cat beside the Farm Four chicken sheds at Inghams.
She said the cat's offspring managed to escape despite the attempts of workers to catch it.
"When the boys tried to grab it off a wire fence, it sliced into one of them with its nail before running off and we never saw it again," Mrs Buxton said.
Inghams has declined to comment on the situation.
