Big Cat on the Prowl in Glenrothes – Fife.
By Debbie Clarke
Glenrothes Gazette: 17th July 2008
THERE has been another alleged sighting of the elusive 'big cat' in
Glenrothes.
Local woman Lorna Lindsay contacted The Gazette to say she saw a
panther-like creature on a grassy area alongside the road on Western
Avenue last Wednesday afternoon.
The move follows an increasing number of sightings in recent years
which has convinced a police wildlife expert that a large cat is out
there.
Sightings in the area go back to the 1990s and three years ago, police
sent prints found in woods near Balbirnie away for expert analysis.
It was later said that the pawprints could have been those of a lynx,
leading to the animal being dubbed the 'beast of Balbirnie' after the
area in which it was spotted.
