SOME KIND of large wild cat may be roaming a wooded area near Dundee's
Ninewells Hospital, following a sighting by a shocked couple out
walking their dog yesterday morning.
They were at the back of the houses off the access road to the
accident and emergency department when they spotted the animal,
described as having a glossy coat, yellow eyes and sharp pointed ears.
The woman said she and her husband were now hoping that someone else
may have seen the cat—possibly staff or patients looking out of the
hospital—and might be able to say what it is.
She explained, "Our dog was going frantic because it had picked up the
smell of something, then he just stopped and he would not go any further.
"The cat was next to a thicket—it was not a domestic cat.
"Our dog is a cocker spaniel and it was bigger than him. It just took
off and went into the thicket.
"We were completely taken aback. It's a beautiful-looking animal.
"My husband thought it might be something like a lynx."
She added that the couple knew people who had seen something
resembling a big cat in the Riverside area.
There have been various big cat sightings in and around the city, with
incidents reported at Strathmartine and Liff last year.
Do you have any information on the above reports. Were you the person
involved, or are you aware of any more sightings in this area. We would appreciate any information that you could
give us.
