Big Cats Paws Get Plastered

Daily Record: 21st March 2007

The Daily Record

MASSIVE paw prints left in mud in a garden were made by a big cat the size of a puma or panther.
And mum-of-four Frances Lyon was so keen to convince doubters she had plaster casts made of the animal's prints as evidence.
The night after the paw-prints appeared, her daughter, Shelly, came face to face with the huge cat-like animal, with green eyes and a bushy tail.
Yesterday Shelly, 15, said: "I was scared out of my wits. I was screaming and crying. We've no street lights, it was pitch black and it seemed to be growling and hissing at the same time."
She added: "I was yelling on my dad to put some lights on and open the door.
"A neighbour heard me and switched on his car lights. I saw its green eyes and big bushy tail before it ran off."
Frances of Pitkennedy, near Forfar, Angus, thought nobody would believe the family so she invited eight neighbours to view the markings.
Shelly took a video of the prints with her mobile phone.
Frances said: "I couldn't believe it. I went to get my neighbours and phone the police to warn them about the animal."
Measurements of the casts show that the toes are almost an inch long and each of the nails is about two inches.
