Panther Sighted in Comeragh Mountains? By David Mc Donnell

There was a reported sighting of a panther in the Comeragh Mountains on the Waterford-Tipperary border, according to an article published in a leading national newspaper yesterday.
According to the Irish Times piece, an employee of the state forestry company Coillte, who did not wish to be identified, was reported to have seen a ‘strange black animal that looked like a panther roaming at Coolishal Wood’ on the Rathgormack side of Kilsheelan on January 3.
The article also speculated that there were reports of similar sightings close to the Waterford village of Melleray before Christmas and that the public should exercise great caution if they spotted the beast.
However, at the time of going to press no reports of the sighting have been reported to Rathgormack, Tramore or Clonmel Garda stations and the Garda Press Office in Dublin could neither confirm nor dismiss the report.

Do you have any information on the above reports. Were you the person involved, or are you aware of any more sightings in this area. We would appreciate any information that you could give us.

Have your say on the forum.
