Cat Beast Seen on Roof of Garage

THERE has been a fresh sighting of Calderdale's big cat â€" this time on
a garage roof.
Gladys Allen, of Malton Street, Boothtown, Halifax, said she saw the
beast from her front window.
"It was beautiful â€" big, black and glossy," said Mrs Allen, 93.
She spotted the cat at about 11am on Tuesday on the flat roof of the
garage opposite,about 100 feet from her window.
"It was so supple when it moved," she said.
Mrs Allen was shocked by the sighting â€" but got an even bigger
surprise when she went into town and saw the front page of that day's
Courier.
"Return of the catbeast," said the headline, reporting on the latest
sighting of the animal â€" in Wheatley, Halifax.
The cat, which Mrs Allen said was slightly smaller than the Great
Danes a neighbour keeps, stayed on the roof for a few minutes.
Then it jumped a metre-wide gap on to fencing and bounded into a
neighbouring garden before vanishing.
Mrs Allen said she had not seen anything like it before. Tuesday's
Courier reported the big-cat sighting by Linda Hellowell and her son
Jonathan.
They saw what they described as a black panther in their car
headlights while driving home.
Mrs Hellowell, 49, a catering assistant at Calderdale Royal Hospital,
said: "I was so surprised.
"I could see its head and long tail. I thought 'That's a black panther'."
