A MYSTERY giant cat the size of a puma has been snapped at a beauty spot.
Stunned motor fans at a go-kart track spotted the black creature prowling through undergrowth.
Engineer Philip Stokes, 40, said: “It had big bunched shoulder muscles. Everyone who saw it knew it was something out of the ordinary.”
The animal has been dubbed the Beast of Eastbourne, after the Sussex town near the South Downs where it was spotted.
A local wildlife rescuer dismissed the sighting as just a domestic cat.
But Philip, who took our photo near Filching Manor, said: “It was much too big to have been a domestic cat. We could see it on the hill 400 metres away.”
Another witness Karl Foulkes-Halbard, 42, said: “There have been sightings of big cats before — and the rabbit population is down at the moment.”
