Grisly Find at Beauty Spot

'Dog walkers are calling on council bosses to investigate after discovering a number of animal corpses at a beauty spot.
Owners who regularly walk their dogs on the popular Chorlton Meadows are asking for action to be taken following a string of gruesome finds - in which four badly decomposed animal corpses, believed to be those of cats and dogs, have been found in recent months.
Jason Hasford, who lives at Titterington Avenue, Chorlton, has been using the meadows to walk his Staffordshire cross dog, Noam, for the last ten years. He said: "I have never seen anything like this before in the whole time that I have been using the meadows.
Up to now I have seen three corpses in just a matter of months and all of them have been really nasty sights. One of the corpses was pretty close to the car park, but I came across the other two in long grass in the meadows. I cant see how they would have got that far into the park without being dumped there by somebody.
The ones further into the park were very badly decomposed, as if foxes have been eating away at them. If I have found three it makes me wonder if there are any more in the meadows. I find it all very strange. The state of some of the bodies has been horrific.
At first I thought that all of the corpses were dogs, but I think one of them was a dog and the other two were very big cats. Somebody needs to look into this"
Peter Roberts, of Edge Lane in Chorlton, also made an unwelcome discovery while walking his welsh terrier in Chorlton Meadows.
Mr Roberts, 44, said:"I saw a dead dog in the meadows getting on for three weeks ago now. It looked like a rottweiler cross and had been left in the long grass next to a path. It didnt have a collar on it, but there was a chain around its neck. It was very weird."
A spokesperson for Manchester City Council said: "Nobody has ever reported seeing anything like this to us in the past. We would urge the people who have - and any who do in future - to report it to the parks wardens as soon as possible so that it can be looked into."
Do you have any information on the above reports. Were you the person
involved, or are you aware of any more sightings in this area. We would appreciate any information that you could
give us.
Have your say on the forum.
