Huge Black Cat Spotted in Woods By Will Ockendon

Northants Evening Telegraph: 16th June 2008

A dad walking his dog says he saw a big cat larger than his black labrador dog while out walking near his home.
Paul Smith, 41, was walking in a patch of woodland near his home in Roche Way, Wellingborough, when a large black feline emerged from bushes 20 yards away.
He said: "I was walking my dog at the back of the cricket pitch in a little wooded bit.
"The path is very overgrown and from the undergrowth came what I can only describe as a very large black cat.
"It clocked me, looked very surprised and ran in the opposite direction in front of me before turning right towards the cricket pitches."
The cat disappeared into bushes.
Mr Smith said his dog was barking and very agitated.
He said the cat had a very long tail which almost touched the ground, before curling upwards at the end.
An RSPCA spokesman said: "The evidence to suggest there are big cats living in Britain is very unreliable, but we cannot rule out the possibility."
He advised that if pet owners believed such an animal was on the loose they should keep their pets indoors where possible.
Mr Smith's wife Julie, 40, said: "The children like to play out there but we wouldn't want our eight-year-old son Bradley playing in those woods now."
Reports of big cat sightings are not uncommon. Past sightings include a large sandy-coloured cat near Rushden and a large black cat near Nobottle, west of Northampton.

Do you have any information on the above reports. Were you the person involved, or are you aware of any more sightings in this area. We would appreciate any information that you could give us.
