Pye Green resident John Brazier sent us this picture from the Birches Valley area of Cannock Chase showing the mutilated carcass of a deer.
And John, 54, believes it could be the work of the infamous Chase panther.
He came across the grim discovery on his way to work on Monday morning and says it is the second such corpse he has seen in a week.
Speaking exclusively to The Post he said: "I saw it and thought I have to capture it, so I stopped and took the picture with my camera phone.
"It wasn't there on Friday and it was gone by the time I drove home from work.
"Something has really had a go at it. The guys at work were gobsmacked when I showed them the pictures.
"I've lived in the area all my live and I've never seen anything like a panther. I've seen and read a lot of articles about them on The Chase and when I saw that it makes you think.
"It makes you wonder if something is out there. Seeing what's happened to that deer it's got to be something of a beast.
"People ought to be aware if something is out there because a lot of people walk their dogs over The Chase."
Similar discoveries in the past have been put down to cars hitting the wild animals which are then eaten by scavengers.
But John is positive this animal was not hit by a car. He said: "God knows what's happened to it but it's not been hit by a car, there were no skidmarks in the road.
"It's happened in a really short space of time. Foxes would have chewed on the bones, the skull looked like it had been sucked clean." * Have you made any grisly discoveries on The Chase? E-mail matt_lloyd@mrn.co.uk
