British Big Cats
Back
Darren Eddy - Bedforshire
Darren is in his Thirties and has spent most of his life in deepest, darkest Bedfordshire.
A county once described, on a tourist information website, as 'a good place to go if you want to remain anonymous'.
This, he believes, is the reason why many Big Cats choose to live there and also the reason they are so notoriously hard to locate.
He has worked for the same company for almost 20 years and has a job so secretive that even his own boss doesn't know what he does all day long.
He would like to point out, for the benefit of his Father, that the 5 million candle torch he owns really is more powerful than the 1 million candle searchlight his Father remembers from his childhood during the war, even if it is a lot smaller. He is also determined to prove it; if the Luftwaffe ever attempt a low level reconnaissance mission over the Home Counties.
His ambitions are:
- to discover a comet
- to take a picture of a Big Cat in the English Countryside
- to witness as many Total Eclipses as possible.
He began to realize these ambitions in 1999 when he went to Cornwall for the last Total Eclipse of the Millennium.
It was cloudy....
He is still watching other peoples comets and hasn't even seen a Big Cat let alone take a photograph of one.
When we spoke to him he said:
'By nature, I'm a sceptic. If someone tells me they've seen something Black and as big as a Labrador then I tend to think they've seen a big, black Labrador.
But the forensic evidence, i.e Pawprints, Claw marks, Video footage and genuinely adamant witnesses, leave me in no doubt that there really are Big Cats in Britain. By studying them, and their favoured habitat, I hope we can help to show that they pose no threat to us and the ecosystem.
