Rare Spider is on the March Again
Britain's rarest spider, which was once feared to be extinct, is making a comeback.
The velvet lady bird spider was nearly wiped out 100 years ago when its habitat was built on. A handful were discovered on a Dorset heath in 1979 and numbers have increased to about 1,000.
It is hoped small colonies taken from the secret location in Dorset can be reintroduced to other areas of the county.
