Snake Found in Belfast Bathroom
A north Belfast man got an unwelcome shock today when he discovered a
snake in his bathroom.
The Corn snake, which was nearly a metre long, had found its way into
the man's home in the Holmdene Gardens area of the city.
Police are baffled as to where the non-venomous reptile came from and
have appealed for its owner to contact them.
PSNI Sergeant Davy Mahood said the man got quite a fright when he came
across the creature.
'This gentlemen had got up some time around 5am to go to the loo and
there in the bathroom was this snake hugging the radiator trying to
get some heat,' Mr Mahood said.
'Obviously he was a bit frightened at the time because he didn't know
whether it was venomous or not. But I think he's taking it in good
humour now.'
Sergeant Mahood said officers had quite a job recovering the reptile.
Eventually they managed to get it into a black recycling bin and took
it back to the station where the USPCA was called.
