The British big cat mystery has been on-going for many decades now, and still we are not any nearer discovering just what is outside in the British counytryside. Some may say they know, and have the proof, but it is never shown. For us lesser mortals we are endeavouring to gain that proof (what actual proof would consist of to prove beyond a shdow of a doubt that large cats are thriving and breeding in the British country, is certainly not knon to me). A body here and there every few years can always be put down to escapes or released animals.
This is where you come in, we cannot hope to succeed without help. We are trying to cover every angle in order to gain as much information as possible. Listed are several ways you can assist us with that, and maybe help solve one of the greatest British mysteries of all time.
As always with these kind of things we are in dire shortage of everything, this is not actually a plea for money but more in the line of equipment and your time to enable us to further our progress and any help that you could offer would greatly be appreciated. Although donations would be appreciated in order to acquire more equipment.
- Join the group, or at least lend your name to the list of supporters.
- Use the banner on the top right or (or the one at the bottomof the page) to place on your website and link to our home page.
- Report your sighting, no matter how brief or trivial you think it may be. If you have reported it to others in the past no mind, by letting us know here you are adding it to the largest collection of reports available on the internet and are helping us build a more complete picture. The database will eventually be published on this site.
- We are appealing to land owners for use of their land to set up, with a minimum of fuss and, also a small space to set up a hide that we can operate from on occasions. Your help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.
- Gather any newspaper clippings on big cat sightings / comments / events etc. (Do please remember to include the date and source of the article.)
- Any likely evidence that you may come across while out and about. Please record it, which you can do in various ways...write it down / take photographs / take camcorder footage / ask somebody to witness the evidence. Also protect the evidence as best as you are able, so that when an investigator visits the site the evidence is in its best possible condition. If you are confident enough, do take casts or tracings of any prints found.
- Allow us to investigate your sighting. If it has occurred on your land we will be quiet and confidential as you wish us to be. (In fact we have often operated in this way. It does mean that a lot of evidence does not go on public display, as we have promised witnesses not to do this...then that is what will happen. And at the end of the day it is research into big cats roaming the British countryside that we are interested in, not publicity.) Witness confidentiality and support is paramount, we will never ridicule a witness under any circumstances nor will we pester them for information.
- We are badly in need of equipment. All our costs are met basically by me (Well my wife).
- If anyone has a photo-copier, computer equipment of any kind etc. then they would be most appreciated
- Also night vision equipment, binoculars, camera equipment, camoflauge netting etc. would, again be very much appreciated.
- By visiting web sites and asking them to place the British Big Cats in Britain link to their pages www.bigcatsinbritain.org ... If any of the sites do add the link please let me know so I can return the favour.
- Report broken links.
- Keep an open mind!
