From ABC News online:
Sceptics Pummel Preying Puma Possibility.
The Victorian Skeptics group is questioning reports a puma-like animal
has killed 20 cattle on one farm in South Gippsland this year.
Binjinwarry farmer Ron Jones says he has sighted a 2.5 metre long black cat
and a fawn cat the same size, 12 times or more.
But Bob Nixon from Skeptics says the multiple sightings imply there is a
breeding population in the area.
He says despite multiple reports over several years there has never been any
hard evidence like a clear photo or a captured animal.
"One of the most common things that happens is people mis-identify something
for something that's quite common, for something that they want to believe
or they think is around, or suddenly they're part of the group that has seen
these things," he said.
